Performance of Newly Developed Intermittent Aerator for Flat-Sheet Ceramic Membrane in Industrial MBR System

An intermittent aerator was newly developed to reduce energy costs in a flat-sheet ceramic membrane bioreactor (MBR) for industrial wastewater treatment. Large air bubbles were supplied over short time interval by the improved technology at bottom of membrane. Performance tests carried out pilot system with two cassettes immersed tank 1-MGD demonstration plant Jurong Water Reclamation Plant (JWRP) Singapore. Stable operation achieved an average flow 19–22 LMH every-2-days MC and peak 27 33 daily reduced aeration. This indicates that aeration can be using aerator. MBR projected 43% reduction overall operating could together regime cassette.
